I have zone alarm enabled but then I disabled it and still does the same thing. I tried with IE and firefox and same thing. I can ping 127.0.0.1 Please help let me know what I can do. Thanks |

Check your proxy settings by going into Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> Lan Settings.
Is the Use a proxy for this LAN ticked?
If it is, untick it and then try.
Also try make sure it is actually running the server, like reboot it.
Also do you have any firewalls. mcafee firewall for example can block it? |

There is nothing ticked. The server is running because of my win 2k pc and everynight I shut it down and try again and still does the same thing. The ZoneAlarm I metioned above is my firewall and Yes I did disabled it completely and still the does the same thing. If I did not disable it, it would have popped up asking me to allow or disallow the program that is tring to get access. But yes I did disable it just to make sure. I have not other firewalls running. This is a strange thing happening here. Let me know if you have any other ideas. OR if anyone else has any other Ideas. Thanks |

Have you corrupted your HOST file.
It is usually somewhere like this
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\HOSTS
Some spyware/firewall software modify this file to block stuff.
Is should contain a line like this
127.0.0.1 localhost
plus others... |

It's not a fix, but a work around have you tried opening via your local pc's ip #?
Example:
http://192.168.0.xx (or whatever your pc's lan address is) |

Good one but I just tried it and didn't work. Always the same thing happens I either get opening IP or localhost OR I get Website Found waiting for reply. |
