Apache2Triad Help, Support and Development

Hi,
I installed apache2triad a few days ago.

I have no trouble logging into localhost or into any other feature, using "root" as username and my pw.

However, i found out that i couldn't log on to phpmyadmin for some reason... my password is rejected...

At no point in the installation process do i recall inserting any other pw than the one i was already using.

Can someone help me? i'd rather not install the server again...

Ok, i've uninstalled and re-installed.
I could log on to phpmyadmin and left it open for a while (while i was editing some files i needed to re-insert into htdocs).

Then when i tried to click on a link inside "phpmyadmin" pw window pops up and again, it wouldn't accept my login (whereas it accepted my login just a few minutes earlier).

The same problem has happened again - I can't access "phpmyadmin" even after re-installing...

Any ideas anyone?

I noticed i don't have a htaccess file in phpmyadmin folder.
Could that be the problem?

Well... doesn't seem like entering a blank pw helps.

There is no htaccess file because phpmyadmin under the a2t configuration uses a header response that acts the same as a htaccess with Auth would do

Besides that i do not know what to say , it could be anything , if the login works then afterwards not

I would have to enter my name and passsword 3 or 4 times to enter the phpMyAdmin app as root. I also have an app called DBDesigner 4 that wouldn't connect. I had to create a user with all privileges using the OLD_PASSWORD format, and I have no trouble connecting to phpMyAdmin with that user. Maybe that will help narrow the scope of the problem?

these issues are specific to mysql 4.1 versions , i suggest you go with the stable apache2triad releases that contain mysql 4.0

You are correct in that my control panel reports I'm running MySQL 4.1.11. Cute.

Well, Im in a quandry here: I don't really want to uninstall and re-install A2T, but I would like to upgrade my Apache server to 2.0.54 and either one requires that I take a lot of time out of the current project to do some WAMP administration. The phpMyAdmin thing is an annoyance, but I'm not really motivated to undo something that works so well.

I really need to upgrade the Apache server. How about pointing me to a simple set of instructions that will upgrade the A2T installation?

If there was a readily available method to upgrade to the lastest features of all the software Apache2Triad uses...
You would already be using Apache2Triad version 30

The point is, the current (stable) release of apache is exactly that.

If you are going to update individual features you will run into the problems everyone else does.
That is why we all use apache2triad because the hassle factor is taken away by the dedicated people updating it.

The only real way to stay fully upto date with all features is to do it yourself in all fairness. I don't think any combined project will ever be good enough to keep up unless it becomes a full-time paid job.

I would suggest, more constructively, you view the respective sites to assist you in the problem as it is not an Apache2Triad problem.

Well, the current release of Apache is 2.0.54, so I think I'm justified in thinking that it is OK to install. So I did: I simply did a custom install and installed it to the Apach2Triad directory, where it created a directory called Apache2 with two subdirectories named "conf" and "logs". When the MSI installer came up with domain and hostname references I changed them to "localhost". The A2T CP shows I'm now running 2.0.54 (although the info section still says .53). The only problem I see in the A2T CP is a red triangle warning sign next to the administrator's e-mail address, which I believe is something I'll have to edit in the conf file.

I do not recommend this for everybody, especially if they need their system for stable production. My development laptop is more a "LABtop" and I experiment a lot. I will probably pay for this little experiment later when I find something is broken and I'm under a deadline. However, I backed up all the files in my htdocs and backed up the configuration files, so I can probably restore myself to usability in an emergency.

I do experimental work to produce solid solutions resulting in stable applications, and I can't remain ignorant just because the software changes and I don't like it. I totally agree, however, that having Mr. Mancini and friends do the brainsweat for installing WAMP has saved me hours of time this week.

I had this problem yesterday on my 2nd install of the newer version of Triad2.

It said that it could not connect to mysql database, and the password had not been chnaged.

Asked me to try to telnet into the localhost and put in portnumber.

However, soon after install, I could login using Root and password as blank.

This worked fine.

I chnaged my password after that.
