I am trying to install PHPbb on my machine and I have no problem installing it if I use "Localhost" as the Database Server Hostname, but then whenever you click on a link it goes crazy and jumps to some random site. However if I use my actual domain it errors out stating it can't access the mysql database.
Any Ideas or comments would be greatly appreciated. Also Please feel free to make me feel stupid. |

things jumping to random sites when trying to access localhost sounds like it may be a piece of spyware, or a mis-configuration of your hosts file.
As for not being able to access your db server from your hostname, IF that is something you want to do make certain that you have your db server set to listen from your public ip also, and that you have the port open for it also. |
