|
|
hey everyone. I am a newbie to A2T.... I am looking for a place where I can get information on how to setup ALL of the different A2T functions. I am especially looking for things on MySQL Setup, Email Setup, and FTP Setup. I greatly appreciate any help anyone can give me. I am a newbie to most of these things so I kinda need a site that tailors to "Newbies".
Thanks,
QWERTYtech (NEWBIE) |

The easiest way to do this, is to try it and see where you fail -- then give us details.
Read the documentation once ( even if you dont understand it ) then read it again and try to comprehend what yuou are reading - You will learn more and feel better about what you are doing if you do it yourself.
We can answer specific questions, but general questions such as yours are a lot more difficult. |

Dawg is correct it is always good to read the included documentation, and search the forums if you have problems.
A2T is a solution out of the box. It has a nice web gui to help you configure your server after you install it. http://localhost/apache2triadcp There's a great FAQ on these forums (and a link in the cp) http://apache2triad.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=48
That covers the general problems that new users incur.
If you have problems beyond those feel free to post on these forums. |

To configure the mail server you can use http://localhost/phpxmail/
To be able to web-access your mail you use eubimiau
For more info on the mailserver C:\apache2triad\mail\apache2triad_mail.txt |

can i use this as a valid email address after i set it up in http://localhost/phpxmail , test@redbeardcustoms.no-ip.info or does it need to be a real domain like redbeardcustoms.com???? Cuz when i try to send an email it tells me that it cannot be sent. Any suggestions?
Also what ALL ports need to open on my router for EMAIL? Actually whats the complete list of ports that A2T uses? |

When I tried to connect to your email address the dns number came back as 8.4.112.108. Your dns number for your website is 64.194.17.230. When you get your mx record pointing to 64.194.17.230 your email will work if you have your domain setup in the xmail. You might have to contact your isp to get this resolved.
You also need ports 25 and 110 for your email to work. |

| Okay, I have ports 25 and 110 open. I am a little confused on teh MX thing with no-ip...... i went to their site and loged in and went to my domain and went to the MX setup. I entered in redbeardcustoms.no-ip.info and it gave it a value of 5. is that all i need to do? what all do i need to setup inside my mail server on this side? |

Well, you are doing good! I can get a response from your mail server using your ip address 64.194.17.230. The main problem that you have is that you are using someone elses domain name. You have the subdomain called redbeardcustoms.no-ip.info but the no-ip.info domain is owned by someone else! I think that if you change it to readbeardcustoms.info life will work for you. Sorry that I didn't see that before.
You might want to spend some time reading up on dns records and how they work. google for a while, and read a lot. As far as your server goes, it is functional with the ftp, smtp, www, and pop working correctly as far as sending out headers showing your domain. |

It's a good thing that you haven't bought that domain yet, when you get moved in and settled down buy a domain, and most of your mail and other problems will go away.
I can't really determine what the problem is with your guestbook problem right now, I couldn't find a link to it on your website. I have to guess that you found some 3rd party guestbook program and it is causing the error. I right all of my own scripts, so maybe you might let me know which guestbook program you have. |
