I am new to this and I apologize if this has been covered before, but could not find anything on this subject by searching.
I tried to save a Mysql file off my server, and load it into localhost on my computer. I tried everything I could think of and was about to give up when I decided to take a look at version numbers of MySql and phpmyadmin on the server and on my computer localhost. MySql was OK, but version numbers for phpmyadmin were 2.7 and 2.11 on localhost and server respectively. After upgrading to 2.11 on localhost, life is good.
The point is, the 2.7 version came from apache2triad lastest download, so if you download and install, I suggest you update phpmyadmin to at least 2.11, and probably even the latest 3.1 (haven't tried that).
Hope this saves someone a couple frustrating days like I had! :roll:
