php mail stopped working!

The title about sums it up - anything that uses the php mail function suddenly stopped working for me and I have had to switch to SMTP...

Anybody else had this problem and any ideas on why or suggestions on a fix?

A2T edge release 1.5.4?
Windows 2000 all Service Packs :roll:
