 Apache and SSL do they work together?

I know that you can run the apache or the apache ssl. In working with IIS and Apache, I notice that you can't run them both on the same port. But you can run them on seperate ports on the same machine. My question is.. if I change the port listening on the Apache SSL - if that would allow both the apache and the ssl to work on the same pc.

If I do this and it works.. Would I need to inport the virtural information to point to the ssl port that is working? how would you do that?

when you start the Apache service it listens on port 80
when you start the Apache SSL service it listens on port 80 and 443
