Hi I have a domain name which is hooked up to my IP address and I have Apache SSL switched on but when I go to https://www.mydomain.com (mydomain being my domain name) I get a popup saying that it is pretending to be localhost. How can I solve this. Thankyou.

You can change this by changing your certificate file.

To quote my favorite apache bot "doesn't work" is a strong statement. Does it sit on the couch all day? Is it making faces at you? Does it want more money? You need to be explicit or else noone can or will help you .

what DOES it do then ? what do the logs say ? what exactly did you do ?

you do understand that openssl is functional and the tutorial has been tested ?

and that if something does not work it is your fault , fault that you want us to discover

what details do you provide to us in order to discover it for you ?

How did you create your own certificate ? I followed your instruction , step-by-step, SSL just shut down ... REQUIRED OPERATION FAILED...when I replaced my own certificate with yours ... it works again.... How did you create the certificate ? Did I miss any step ? Why yours can work but not mine ?
************** Found the Cure*I just found the problem .... when I creat my own certificate, the first question is whether I would like to set a security phrase ( password ) to protect my privkey.pem ..... I have to say "NO" to make my own certificate work....
After I create my own certificate, security alert still says .. the name does not match ... why ? Can you help ?
***************************************************** PLEASE DISREGARD THIS QUESTION***** Just in case somebody would like to know the cure.....
Change common name ( in the process of getting certificate ) to the name of the website... then it will be ok.
