Call me a newbie, but now that I have returned to the backup issue on the test DB, neither previously posted option has worked. Thnxfor your answer DawG http://apache2triad.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4437

1. I need: Timed backups [I should be able to initate as a NT scheduled job]
2. Then I need: The script to automate creating a stable, database, that has had it's performance and enhancement completed.
3. Also need: To backedup and compress the DB for storage.
4. Finally: I want the script to keep the last 20 backups before it starts deleting older backups.

I piped out the mysqldump help file:
mysqldump --help > C:\a_backup_kb\MySQL\mysqldump-help.txt

Noticed:
Default options are read from the following files in the given order:
C:\my.ini C:\my.cnf C:\WINDOWS\my.ini C:\WINDOWS\my.cnf C:\apache2triad\mysql\my.ini C:\apache2triad\mysql\my.cnf

So I know there are considerations to using mysqldump in A2T.

Any comments?
