Hi, Im pretty new at this and while looking at some other pages i noticed that they linked to some .js, .css, ect files and if you tried to go to those files it came up with a forbidden error but the main page that used them in its source code still worked. So i guess what im confused about is how would i get this working?

Like say i have a page that uses 2 .css files to calculate a formula, how would i forbid access to those two .css pages unless its the main page using them?
(like if the page is chaos.org/calc/main.html they cant just type chaos.org/calc/formula.css and get the css file)

I would suspect http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/mod/mod_rewrite.html

Will do what you want ( but i've been known to be wrong before )

you could add an .htaccess to the folder with
Quote:
<Files *.css>
Deny from all
</Files>

or you could modify the following to be a little more selective
Code:
# Block access to .css
SetEnvIf Request_URI "^(/403.*\.htm|/csspage\.htm)$" allowsome
<Files *.css>
order deny,allow
Deny from all
allow from env=allowsome
</Files>

*NOTE: the above code isn't tested.
