This is going to be silly, but I can't figure out how to work this FTP server. I have no experience with FTP whatsoever. lthough, I am a DBA and VB programmer, I have just never bothered.

So I am looking for something that tells me how this works. I thought I could figure it out, but no luck. I setup a new user, picked a mount point on the drive (apache2triad/files), allowed the mount point....now what?

How does it work from here? It is only in my home network, so I can go to another computer, type 192.168.1.100 and get the parent directory, but how does ftp work? Or am I just too used to interfaces for everything and this requires some other type of interaction.

Thanks. Sean.

well first you need a ftp client you can either use internet explorer
ftp://username:password@192.168.1.100

or you can download and install Filezilla http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/
now you say you added a user make sure after everytime you add a user you restart slimftp which is the ftp server that runs for apache2triad.

hopefully that helps you out.

OK, I see I need to connect using ftp://user:passwd@192.168.1.100

But I don't see the files folder I set as a mount point.

From slimftpd.conf:

<User "me">
password "you"
Mount / c:\apache2triad\files
Allow / ALL
</User>

Thanks. Sean.

Sorry, sorry, sorry. Damn True Vector running in the background (Zone Alarm service). Once I started Zone Alarm it asked if I wanted to allow, I said yes, now done.

Thanks for the help. I did get filezilla.

Sean.
