When you say "ftp isn't working", do you mean the service doesn't start? or you can't login using the root account?

Have you changed the password?
What is the exact error?
Can you login anonymously?

Check the slimftpd log and post any possibly related errors

Check c:\apache2\ftp\slimftpd.conf and check that the root password is the same as what you are using.

i can log into the root account but only on the triadpass password even though i changed it in the slimftpd.conf file. And also when i create a new user by just adding the user table thing it doesnt work either.

Have you restarted the ftp service though? after making config changes you should restart whatever service your making changes to.

Let me get this straight -
The ftp service starts perfectly.
You can login using the default root credentials.
You can login anonymously.

The above is right? yes?
If so then there are no problems with the default config.

So the problem occurs when you try changing passwords, right?

Basically I still don't understand what's wrong and what changes you've made.

Look, to simplify things make sure your user directives/tags looks like the following
Quote:

<User "root">
Password "your_password"
Mount / c:\apache2\ftpdocs\
Allow / All
</User>

<User "anonymous">
Mount / c:\apache2\ftpdocs\
Allow / Read List
</User>

Then when your sure your user directives are ok then restart the ftp service.

If your still having problems then post your conf file and post the EXACT error(s) that you get.

If you don't post the errors then I don't know where the problem is, and if I don't know where the problem is, I can't come up with a solution. Get it?

Ok. Replace all you current users with the following
Quote:
<User "root">
Password "wthell12"
Mount / c:\apache2\ftpdocs\
Allow / Read List
Mount /htdocs c:\apache2\htdocs\
Allow /htdocs All
</User>

<User "anonymous">
Mount / c:\apache2\ftpdocs\
Allow / Read List
</User>

Use the username "root" and password as you see above.
Now, just to be sure, restart your whole computer. Then when you've restarted try loging in.
Let me know if it works.

Explain again. I'll do it but first see if the above works. Then come back and exlpain again about the folders thing.

[edit]
k it works but i cant ftp into the htdocs folder it just shows the ftpdocs file i dunno its wierd.

And for the directory i just want u to setup the htacess files and password files and stick em in a folder called admin with the username of admin and password of wthell12 and then just give me a link to download
[/edit]

[edit2]
i got the ftp to work i just had to create another user the root user didnt want to work properly
[/edit2]

[edit3]

Probably because you are logged in anonymously. When logged in as root you should see the FTPDOCS file and a folder named "htdocs"

Is this still to do with the setup of FTP or have you got it configured as you want?
