I am trying to use latin1_general_ci collation with a new install of Apache2Traid/MySql. While the collation is defined in the latin1 character set, show collation like 'latin1%'; only displays the three compiled collations - swedish, german and bin - and none of the other collations defined in the xml file. Is there a MySql setting to use non-compiled collations? Any other ideas?

I have a new install of MySql 4.1.10a as part of the apache2triad.net package. I have databases using latin1_general_ci collation, but can not use this collation with this install. The collation _is_ defined in the latin1.xml character set. I notice that SHOW COLLATION LIKE 'latin1%'; only displays the three collations indicated as compiled - swedish_ci, german2_ci and bin. The other (~5) collations are not dispalyed, and not available for my use, even though they are defined in the character set. Is there a config variable that effects this? Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Vince N.
