Probaly not a good title for the topic...
But if you try running 2 installations of Apache on one computer
(the apache documentation said it was possible)
If you unistall one of the Apaches, it will uninstall both...
Or, it just did that to me...
(they have to be the same version though like 2.0.54 and running as services)

MyPC: WindowsXP SP2
yeah...
Probaly my fault, but just to let you know...
(also, is there a way to rename the service? so if we do net start apache2, we can have another apche installation and go net start apacheother?)

You can rename the service in your registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Apache2Triad just remember to make a backup of your registry in case you mess something up.

However if you're just looking to have 2 apaches so that one can be used to start the other if it fails I'd recommend you use a VNC program. So you can remotely operate your pc as if you were setting in front of it. If you want one that's opensource you can use TightVNC, and use stunnel to make the connection SSL.

actually the registry path(s) are
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSe\Services
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Apache2Triad just stores the apache2triad version and path

TightVNC is good indeed , i use it too to centrally manage my workstations (even crossplatform)

Thanks Mancini, I wasn't setting at my pc to get the correct reg keys, I just did a search of the FAQ and pulled the key from there ( I couldn't remember the exact key)

Twirp, sorry I told you the wrong reg key.
