Followed the instructions for a topic found in this forum but can't get it to work. I just want the server to display the folders I have on "Drive F:" for those users that I define. Assuming I haven't touched any files since I installed Apache2Triad, what do I need? Thanks in advance!

Add the directory to your httpd.conf use something like :

Code:
Alias /privatearea "F:/docs"
<Directory F:/docs>
   Options Indexes FollowSymLinks +Includes ExecCGI
   Order deny,allow
   Allow from all
   deny from all
</Directory>

In your folder add an .htaccess file with:

Code:
Require user root
AuthType Basic
AuthName "privatearea"
AuthUserFile f:\docs\.htpasswd

Create a .htpasswd file in f:\docs
Then open a dos window and type
Code:
cd "f:\docs"
htpasswd.exe .htpasswd username

Change usernames for each of your friends. This will setup basic authentication for that folder requiring the usernames, and passwords you set.

*note change f:\docs to whatever you're needing
