 apache service starting but not working

here is a noob question from a non-noob..

i installed apache2triad on my XP machine. although services seems to be working i cannot reach localhost from a browser.

here are some diagnostics..

apache -t

What happens if you ping localhost?

dont get an error massage.. browser just says connecting..

I had a similar problem and I'm not sure if yours is the same but you might want to take a look at this

Pretty much I just added the line "Win32DisableAcceptEx" to the httpd.conf file.

It fixed my problem as I was getting about 60% CPU usage on httpd.exe as it continually wrote to the error log.
